There are so many new features on this camera that are unfamiliar to me, and I’m trying to take my time letting my brain process it all. Life was quite busy by the time I got it in my hands to play with, so I’ve just been doing my best snapping away and hopefully getting the desired end result. I do hope that future efforts will involve a bit more precision!
One of the first things I discovered was how much low light advancement has been made since my old camera was introduced. As nature provided a full moon right when I was able to play, I was able to see what new things I could do with it. I have not learned any new tricks yet, and everything is handheld. I am amazed at what the camera has allowed me to capture!
THE CLICK:
My first attempt was at a party, where I simply saw the scene and rapidly tried to capture it. I was shocked at how unblurry it turned out.

THE TRICK:
I squatted down as much as was practical to minimize the distance between the couple and the moon.

The same weather that kept me from seeing the whole moon in its orange state (top photo) gave me a chance to play with the cloud formations. I believe I did prop my arms on a railing, but otherwise these are also handheld. I think all three views are pretty, but I’d like to know which one grabs you the most.
The next night, we were on vacation, and my enthusiasm for more lunar attempts was bolstered by the gorgeous (IMO) port photos I’d managed to capture. Unfortunately, the ambiance wasn’t quite the same caliber, but I did still find a way to be a bit creative with trees. While the setting isn’t very award winning, I do have another set for you to choose from. Preliminary voting unanimously picked the same photo, but it will be interesting to see the opinions of a broader spectrum. Personally, I see some of the branches as
Triffids.

However, I am super thrilled with a full sized port picture I don’t need any voting on! I hope you like it, too!
Please vote on both groups, and I’ll post the results later.
* As this blog project is a new type of concept for me, the formatting has not yet been developed. So I will be tweaking it as I add more subject matter.
